Ali’s screenplay adaptation of her award-winning play She’s Not There, a culmination of her participation in GreenLight Women’s International women’s writers group, will have a Live Reading presented by GreenLight Women at Theatre West.
Directed by MacLean, the show will feature Carly Chaikin (Mr. Robot) and Brent Morin (Undateable) in the lead roles of Anna and Rob, and Logan Marshall Green (Big Sky) embodying The Form. Rounding out the cast is Josh Meyers, Steven Tobolowsky, Ari Wojciech, Juliet Lopez, Arden Teresa Lewis , and Arye Gross, with Marcelo Tubert as the Narrator.
Due to the content of the play, Ali has partnered with NAMI WLA, and board member Sarah Haufrect will be on hand after the show to field questions about depression, suicidal ideation and mental illnesses. She will also be available as a resource for anyone who may need help. MacLean hopes to use her platform as a mental health advocate, an MTV Mental Health talent ambassador and her work like this script to help create social change, particularly to raise awareness and end stigmas about mental health .
