Please join us for the virtual DG Footlights™ Southern California series, featuring new dramatic works in progress. This virtual reading will present Sullen Girl by Ali MacLean.

After her mother dies, Gen and her brother Kellan find home life with their abusive father unbearable. However, once she escapes is when the real hell begins. Flipping back and forth in time, Gen grows up in a house that is haunted with horrible secrets which she takes with her as a young adult battling life in the Big Apple. She begins to realize no matter how many times she changes her life, her childhood trauma is waiting for her until she conquers it.

DG Footlights™ is a program, created and moderated by the Dramatists Guild, that connects dramatists with free space in which to hold a public reading of a new work that is currently in development. This initiative operates on a space-grant model: a representative from the Guild will arrange for a venue to donate space during allocated dates and times, and will ensure that the space is available for dramatists to use to present a self-produced reading to the public, with an optional feedback session following the reading. Attendance is always free and open to all.

This event will be streamed on the internet and archived by audiovisual recording.
