Ali joins New York Public Library’s Performing Arts Center Incubator Program

Things are underway at The New York Public Library’s Performing Arts Center‘s musical theater program, Across A Crowded Room.

Ali was selected for this incubator program, where musical theater lyricists, composers, bookwriters, and performers are put onto teams, to create a short musical theatre piece. All the work created must derive from public domain works at the New York Public Library, whether it be fiction, journalism, poetry, or even photographs.

Ali is writing the book on her team, working with composer Jonathon Lynch and lyricist Ken Harmon, but they will all collaborate on all the elements. Their project’s subject is still under wraps.

The incubator series, headed by Doug reside, consists of team meetings as well as Masterclasses with mentors such as playwright Jonathan Marc Sherman ( Sophistry, Things We Want, Bob, Carol, Ted, and Alice), composer Jeff Bowen (Title Of Show, Now. Here. This), and composer Anna K. Jacobs (Teeth, Pop!).

The culmination of the incubator program will include workshops of the new musicals, and selected projects will play at the Lincoln Center.
