Ali works with UK’s Frantic Assembly

Though MacLean is known as an award-winning writer, she actually studied and is classically trained as an actor.

In January MacLean will put those acting skills to use as she was selected for the Frantic Assembly Performance Residency!
Frantic Assembly is a London based theater company with a specific movement technique.

Formed in 1994, the Frantic Method was created as a celebrated approach to collaborative and physical theatre making. Since then they have commissioned and collaborated with writers such as Simon Stephens, Mark Ravenhill, Abi Morgan, Sally Abbott, and Bryony Lavery.

They’ve collaborated with National Theatre and helped create the Tony Award winning The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time, among many other shows. Their technique has been used by West End choreographers and even television shows such as Humans, and His Dark Materials.

Practitioners who MacLean will be working with have worked on shows including Hadestown, Othello, Here Lies Love, Made In Dagenham, Matthew Bourne’s ballet, and even recording artist Goldfrapp.
