Ali’s new musical ‘Call Waiting’ performed at Lincoln Center

On Saturday, Ali showcased her new short musical, Call Waiting at the Lincoln Center Plaza Performing Arts Center

The book, which was inspired by the Dorothy Parker short story ‘The Telephone Call’, was written by Ali, with lyrics by Ken Harmon and music by Jonathon Lynch.

Call Waiting, was written this summer for the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts musical lab called Across A Crowded Room.  Since 2014, the New York Library for the Performing Arts’ musical theater writing program has brought together lyricists, composers, book writers, and performers to form new collaborations  and receive advice from experts in the industry.

At the end of the program, selected artists present their new musical theater works to the public.

Both Ali and Jonathon performed the piece with other actors for a panel of theater experts.
